Anna Maria Luisa de Medici was the last of the Medicis. She married John William of the Palatinate. Anna played a role in establishing Florence as an artistic and tourist center of Italy. She died childless. She gifted the entire Medici collection of art to the city of Florence., stipulating that they never be removed from Florence and that they are always available to the public.
