Biography

Eliza McCardle Johnson married Andrew Johnson who became president of the United States following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in April 1865. She was the First Lady from April 1865 to March 1869, and Fanny noted receiving "a beautiful bouquet from Mrs Johnson" in her 1866 diary.
