Biography

Charles, born in 1748, was king of Spain during the French revolution, but chose a protege of his wife Maria Luisa of Parma to run the government; When Napoleon Bonaparte and the French army invaded Spain, Charles was forced to abdicate by supporters of his son in March 1808. Napoleon forced both out the following May. Charles died in exile in 1819.
