Biography
Samuel Dickson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He studied medicine at Edinburgh and Paris, and became an assistant-surgeon in the army. He became skeptical of modern medicine, and after setting up his own practice began writing tracts on medicine. His most famous published works include "Revelations on Cholera" "The Fallacy of Physic as taught in the schools, with new and improved Principles of Practice" "The History of Chrono-Thermal Medicine" and "Fallacies of the Faculty, with the principles of the Chrono-thermal System." In 1850 he started a monthly journal, The Chrono-thermalist, or People's Medical Inquirer." He was one of the earliest physicians to argue against the policy of blood-letting. He died on October 12, 1869.
