Biography
Rev. Charles Henry Platt was a clergyman who was briefly the rector of Auburn's Episcopal church. Platt was born in Plattsburgh in 1822 and was ordained as a Priest on August 25, 1846. He married his first wife, Mary Louise Jackson and lived in Lockport for a time, but she died there in 1855. He married his second wife, Emma Hotchkiss in about 1857 and moved to Auburn. He was appointed chaplain in a New York volunteer regiment in 1861 and died in 1869. He is buried in Lyons, NY, where he was assumedly living at the time of his death.
In Fanny Seward's 1860-1862 diary, she describes attending services given by Platt, and of meeting his wife and mother and law at the church.
