WILLIAM MAURY, OLD COTTON MAN, DEAD
Former Orleans Business Man Dies at Son-in-Law's in St. Louis

St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 28. - William Maury, who died yesterday, aged 83, was engaged in the cotton business in New Orleans as a young man, and later became a manufacturer of iron products.

Death, which was due to old age, occurred at the home of Maury's son-in-law, Gustavus Tuckerman, civic secretary of the City Club of St. Louis. The body will be cremated, following funeral services to-morrow morning. Maury was a grandson of James Maury, the first Untied States consul to Liverpool, Eng. According to Tuckerman, his father-in-law's grandfather was appointed to the consulate in Liverpool by President Washington in 1789 and served in the office forty years.

Surviving William Maury are a son, three daughters, a brother, a sister and eight grandchildren.
