Biography
Lemuel Sprague Parsons was born in Connecticut to Amos and Luna (Sperry) Parsons. He graduated Yale College in 1837. After which he settled in Albany, NY. In 1845 he became Principal of the Albany Female Academy. In 1855 he resigned as principal. His sister, Elizabeth Parsons, served as principal of the Seward Institute from 1847-1850.
On July 14, 1838, he married Miss Lucy Stanley, with whom he had 12 children (George Parsons, William Stanley Parsons, Mary P. Parsons, Clara Stanley Parsons, Mary Gibson Parsons, Sarah Parsons, Stanley Parmalee Parsons, William Henry Parsons, Thomas Olcott Parsons, George Stanley Parsons, Edward Parsons, and Luna Marion Parsons)
