Anne Phoebe Charlton Key Taney was the wife of Roger Brooke Taney, fifth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. They were married in 1806, and had seven children together: Ann Arnold Taney, Elizabeth Maynadier Taney, Ellen Mary Taney, Augustus Brooke Taney (died as an infant), Sohpia Brooke Taney, Marria Key Taney, and Alice Carroll Taney. She was the sister of Francis Scott Key, an American lawyer, author, and poet, who is best known for having written the lyrics for the Star-Spangled Banner after watching the British attack on Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key was a close friend of Anne's husband, Roger Taney, which is how the two met.
