Biography

Hall was a lawyer and journalist. He edited the Nashville Republican and State Gazette from 1826 to 1841. He left Tennessee to serve as the the Chargé d' Affaires to Venezuela until 1845 when he returned to Nashville to edit their Whig newspaper. In1849, he was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. In 1850, he was the new editor of "The Republic" in Washington, DC and Frances disliked how his editorials criticized the Taylor administration. He became the  Minister to Bolivia in 1863 where he passed away.
