Smith She says Henry cannot live long, but he is still about town – Caroline was arranged for visiting Mrs Smith told me a story of by gone times of which I did not believe a word – I will tell it to you one of these days." Henry Smith died August 12, 1850, just 43 days later. Emaline was still alive in 1873 when "Historical sketches of the town of Portland : comprising also the pioneer history of Chautauqua County, with biographical sketches of the early settlers " was published.
