Biography
He was a businessman who invested in stagecoach and telegraph. He was born in Conway, MA and moved to Utica in 1812 where he worked as a stage driver before moving up to own his own stage coach business. Then in 1845, he founded the New York, Albany, Buffalo Telegraph Company which became an important commercial telegraph company that was later absorbed into the Western Union telegraph comapny. He became wealthy because of this, living in Utica NY and Massachusetts. He never married or had children.
