Josephine Cline was born in Norway. From at least 1850 to 1880 she lived in Auburn, N.Y.. Josephine Cline lived with her husband James, and their inferred children are: James W. Cline, Frederick Cline, and Mary Cline. In a letter written on July 13, 1852, from Frances Miller Seward to Lazette Worden, Frances mentions a destitute "Norwegian woman" who, along with her husband and two young children, are being evicted from their home. Josephine Cline is the only "Norwegian" woman living in Auburn in 1852, so she is most likely the woman that Frances is referring to.
