Biography

Asa Potter was born in Rhode Island in 1772 and married Ruth Stafford in 1803. According the Friends in Cayuga County, Asa and Ruth moved to Auburn in 1809 and started a school, in which Lazette and Frances were enrolled, they moved to Aurora. According to census and death records, Asa and Ruth moved to Connecticut where both died and are buried. Uncle Asa Potter is mentioned in a April 1817 letter from Paulina Titus Miller to Frances Seward.
