Biography

He was an inventor who was in business with Charles Atwood in Connecticut. They, along with inventor William Todd, invented new machinery for making jack-chains and got patent "US8029A" for it. They sued John Bostwick, Jr. and Elbert White in 1852 because "Messrs Bostwick and White" got a similar patent. Bostwick and White enlisted William and Clarence Seward's assistance in their trail which took place after September 1852. Charles lived in New York and Connecticut with his family, wife Jane Crosby and their children, one of which was renowned singer Clara Louise Kellogg.
