Biography

Lieutenant Clinton W. Lear was a colleague of Augustus Henry Seward at West Point. In 1849, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and served in the same infantry as August Seward. He was stationed in Texas for a duration of time until his untimely death in 1854, where he died from yellow fever in New Orleans, Louisiana.
