Charles D. Thompson was a plaintiff in Silsby et al. v. Foote and was presumably involved in manufacturing in Seneca Falls, NY, likely the Thompson mentioned with Horace Silsby as a "hardware man." William Henry Seward argued for the plantiffs in the patent law case before the Supreme Court in the December term of 1852.
