Biography

Elisha Foote was a lawyer, specializing in patent law, who became the district attorney and then judge of the court of common pleas of Seneca county. He was the defendant in Silsby et al. v. Foote, and William Henry Seward argued for the plantiffs in the patent law case before the Supreme Court in the December term of 1852.
