Biography

Harriet Lowndes Aiken was the wife of South Carolina Governor William Aiken. She had at least one child with Willian, Henrietta Aiken, who later became Henrietta Rhett. After Harriet and William were married in the 1830s, they moved into William's father's house, a house that is still preserved in Charleston, South Carolina.
