Biography

"Moses Dewitt Burnet was a prominent businessman and public servant in Syracuse, New York. He was appointed commissioner for the formation of the Salina and Port Watson Railroad in western New York in 1829, and was one of the founders of the Bank of Salina in 1832 and of the Syracuse Savings Bank in 1849"

After Mose's death in 1886, his son John B. donated a tract of land to the public of Syracuse under the name Burnet Park, honoring Moses. This park is an established outdoor recreational location for the city of Syracuse to this day
