Biography

He was the son of Henry Evander Stoughton and Laura Clark Stoughton. He was a Cadet at West Point from 1854-1859, and after graduation he entered the army. After a leave of absence, he served in the Civil War. After which, he became a lawyer in New York City until his death in 1868.
