Biography

Edward Beecher was a son of Lyman Beecher. He graduated from Yale in 1822 before studying theology at Andover. In 1826 he took a pastorship in Boston. He then served as the President of Illinois College from 1830 to 1844, before taking pastorships in again in Boston, Galesburg, IL, and Brooklyn. He served as the senior editor for the Congregationalist from 1849 to 1855 and an associate editor for the Christian Union from 1870 until his death.
