Main protagonist in Daniel Defo's "Robinson Crusoe". He is shipwrecked, while on a journey to acquire slaves for his plantation, for many years on a remote island. William Henry Seward referred to himself and FWS as "father and son Robinson Crusoe" while on a journey down the St.Lawerence river in August of 1857.
