Biography

Lord Alfred Tennyson and the first Baron Tennyson, was a British poet and author. He first published a collection of poems with his brothers, Poems by Two Brothers. He then published a few more collections of poetry. His most famous collection included the poems In Memoriam, Ulysses, and Lockley Hall. In 1847 he published The Princess, and in 1850 he became the queen's Poet Laureate. Later in his life he wrote plays including: Queen Mary, Harold, The Cup, and The Promise of May, among others. In 1884 he became a peer, created Baron Tennyson of Aldworth.
