She was the wife of Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, the Earl of Shelburne and the 4th Marquis of Landsowne. This made Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, the 3rd Marquis of Landsowne, her father in law. She was popularly known as the Countess of Shelburne, before becoming Lady Nairne after her husband's death.
