Wife of William Shorter Stell, a Philadeplphia merchant who moved with his family to Manchester England. William Seward stayed with the family in 1859, and described his visit in a letter to his daughter Fanny written July 11, 1859. Mrs. Stell was originally from Baltimore, MD. Seward mentions the Stell's daughter, Julia Stell Tuck, is adopted in the letter.
