Biography

St. Pancras was a fourteen year old Christian martyr who was beheaded. His relics were interred at the St. Pancras church. Now, only his head remains, and it is housed as a relic in the St. John Lateran. Wiliam Henry Seward refers to St. Pancratius (the Latin spelling) when he is exploring the catacombs of Rome in 1859, and says that they descended 30 feet to the place where St. Pancras was slain.
