Biography

Puck, a fictional character from William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," is a mischievous fairy that likes to cause trouble, misleading travelers or causing other bothersome events to occur. In his letter dated August 22, 1859, William Henry Seward describes the impish Puck (as well as Caliban) as a poetical analogy to "The Faun" sculpted by Praxiteles.
