Charles Leeds Sharpless was born to Townsend and Mary Sharpless' Quaker family in Philadelphia. He is the father of Mary Williams Starr (nee Sharpless) (who Fanny Adeline Seward references in her 1862-63 diary) and is likely the Mssr. Sharpless, one of the "young gentleman, to tea," Fanny talks about.
