Biography

John Henry Ammon was an Auburn native who enlisted and fought in the Union Army, 3rd NY Artillery, and was captain of Battery I. He had only one death during the siege of Fort Macon. Fanny Adeline Seward admired this in her 1862-1863 diary, saying "...it seems John Ammon rendered efficient service at the taking of Fort Macon - he had one man killed - by the name of Dart."
