Charles Latour Rogier, statesman and one of the leaders of the Belgian Revolution of 1830 that resulted in an independent Belgian kingdom. The foremost Liberal leader in the first four decades of the kingdom’s existence, he served as prime minister in 1847–52 and 1857–67.
