Biography

Joseph Rodman Drake DeKay is likely the person Fanny Adeline Seward refers to as "Captain Drake DeKay" in her 1862-63 diary. He served on the staffs of Civil War military leaders Mansfield, Pope and Hooker. He was the son of George Coleman DeKay (also a military leader) and Janet Halleck DeKay (nee Drake).
