Biography
In 1841, Harriet Webster married Rev. Peter Parker, a medical missionary. In 1842, Rev. Parker brought his bride to China, supposedly making her the first woman from the West to enter the country. Fanny Seward recalls in her 1862-1863 diary a social call by Mrs. Parker in Washington, D.C., with her little boy.
