Biography

B. F. Torreao de Barros was born in Brazil and served as a Brazilian diplomat throughout his life in the US, Bolivia, Uruguay, Argentina and Venezuela. He seems to have lived in the US until 1881, at which point he was sent to Venezuela. He lived in Philadelphia, PA and Washington, D.C. While living in Philadelphia in 1880, he seems to reside with a son or family member, a Charles L.  de Barros. Fanny Adeline Seward references him and his wife in her 1862-1863 diary at a reception held by speaker Galusha Grow in Washington D.C.
