Brother-in-law of Seward neighbor Laura Watrous, mentioned in a letter to Frances Seward in 1855, after Laura had left her husband. Mr. Rose hired her to work in his boarding house. "The Mr Rose , brother in law of my former keeper , of whom I have spoken to you, as being my friend, is at present in possession of the establishment in consequence of the failure of Judson , who was proprietor- Mr Rose and Mr Stewart being interested, Mr Rose came in last Summer- The matter is now in court- perhaps you see by the papers- when I came it was supposed I could become assistant supervisor- now all is uncertain."
