Biography
Cayetano Rubio visited the United States in 1870, and met Frederick William Seward to ask about financing his textile mill with American loans. According to Fred's October 2, 1870 letter to his father William Henry Seward, Don Rubio was disappointed W. H. Seward was not available to meet, as his father Manuel Ulpiano Rubio had sent him with a letter of introduction to Seward. They presumably had met on Seward's earlier trip to Mexico.
