Biography
U.S. Representative from New York (1857-1863), appointed associate justice of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia by President Lincoln. Frances "Fanny" Seward references him as a delegate at the Chicago convention in her 1860 diary. The Seward family dines with him and another delegate, Mr. Preston King, in April 1860.
