Daughter of Bazil Hudon Beaulieu and Margaret "Ogemaugeeeshigoquay" Rancine, an Ojibwe tribeswoman. Married Charles H. Oakes, a fur trader and later banker. The couple later moved to Minnesota. Frances "Fanny" Seward references her being "French and Chippewa" in her 1860 pocket diary.
