Mary F. Conover Aulick married U.S.N. Commodore John Henry Aulick in 1819 and the couple lived primarily in the Washington, D.C. area. She and her husband had six children together, including Richmond Aulick, whom Frances "Fanny" Seward references in her 1862-1863 diary. The diary relates the visit of Charlotte Cushman to the Aulick family while in Washington.
