Biography

Emma was born in Berlin, Connecticut, the daughter of Simon Lincoln and Almira (Hart) Lincoln Phelps, and the niece of Emma Hart Willard. In 1843, Emma married Dennis W. O'Brien, a lawyer from Reading, Pennsylvania. After her husband's death in 1878, she settled in Baltimore, Maryland, where her mother resided.
