Biography

General Walter Jones was a member of the Lee family of Virginia. According to a genealogy book on the family, Jones studied law with Judge Bushrod Washington, then settled in Washington DC. Here, he gained a national reputation as "a lawyer of the greatest ability." 

In a letter written by Elizabeth Blair Collins Lee to Frances Miller Seward in June 1855, she writes that Jones' eldest daughter is a missionary in China, despite opposition from her family.
