Charles Lee Jones was the sixth of fourteen children born to General Walter Flood Jones and his wife, Anna Lucinda Lee Jones. He was their only son to still be living in 1855, when he was referenced by Elizabeth Collins Lee in a letter to Frances Miller Seward as being opposed to his sister Catherine's missionary work in China. 

According to family genealogy, Charles never married and died in 1889.
