Mary Robinson Stow was the daughter of Alanson and Zillah (Townsend) Robinson, of Buffalo, NY. Alanson was a very prosperous banker and railroad executive. Mary was the niece of Abigail Jane (Robinson) Perry and cousin to Ellen Perry, Frances "Fanny" Seward's close friend. Fanny references Mary in her 1858-1859 diary in Auburn, NY, and then in Buffalo, NY. In 1862, Mary married first, Francis Walsingham Tracy, the son of Albert H. Tracey, a personal friend of William H. and Frances Seward. The couple divorced in 1871. Mary then married Eugene N. Robinson, her cousin. Mary married next George G. Stow.
