Almira M. Bennett Pardee was born in Auburn, New York, to Dr. Hilem and Nancy Maria Bennett. On October 17, 1850, she married Walter Pardee, a homeopathic physician, and the couple lived in New York City beginning in 1859. They had five children, only one of whom survived into adulthood.
