Sarah Cooke Dawes Binney was the daughter of James Lincoln Dawes and Eliza Franklin Dawes. The Dawes family were neighbors of the Sewards in Auburn, NY during the late 1850s and early 1860s. They moved to Englewood, NJ in either the 1860s or 1870s. It was here that Sarah met and married Charles Chauncey Dawes a lawyer from Philadelphia, and the two married on June 24, 1884. Sarah died on December 28, 1900 and was buried in Englewood, NJ.
