William W. Parkin was a merchant and partner in the firm Olyphant & Co; which was a prominent trading house in China and other countries in the 19th century. In a letter dated October 24th 1862, George Fredrick Seward mentions Parkin's travel back to the United States from Hong Kong to William Henry Seward.
