Biography
Charles W. Hough was mustered into the 138 NY Infantry in Venice, New York in 1862. The 138th became the 9th NY Artillery. He was discharged from the 9th in 1864 as a Lieutenant. He then served with Generals J.A. Haskin and O.B. Wilcox. After the war, Hough was employed by the Ward Plow Company in Batavia, New York. He resided in Batavia until his death in 1900. Hough is referenced in a letter written by Theodore Medad Pomeroy to William H. Seward, dated May 26, 1864. Hough requests assistance with placement in another unit, specifically that of Gen. Haskin.
