Samuel Lewis was a Washington, DC jeweler and silversmith. He had a shop on Pennsylvania Avenue. Lewis was commissioned for work by the State Department, including creating skippet boxes for storing ceremonial seals. Frances "Fanny" Seward references walking down to his shop in her 1866 diary.
