Biography

Jules de Lasteyrie was the grandson of political writer Charles de Rémusat. He served in the French Army in Brazil before being elected to the National Assembly defending Duchess d'Orleans. He was exiled in 1852 following his public critique of Napoleon III, but later returned to be reelected. He is mentioned in Frances "Fanny" Adeline Seward's 1866 diary.
