Mary Angeline (Humphreys) Brown was born in Cato, New York, the daughter of George and Lucia (Williams) Humphreys. She resided in Auburn, New York, after 1852 and married Frederick H. Brown in 1864. The couple resided in Auburn and Buffalo, New York. They had at least four children. Frances "Fanny" Seward references Mary's baby being baptized at the Protestant Episcopalian Church in Auburn in her 1866 diary.
