Biography
Hopkins was the the first Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Vermont. He was the eighth Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of the united States of America. He was a prolific writer with controversial ideas on slavery, arguing that slavery had a "divine warrant." He is mentioned in Frances "Fanny" Adeline Seward's 1866 diary.
